Hope you update Spacetime to take advantage of the iPad's screen. This could be really cool.

I'm not really interested in buying an iPad, but since you all are already programmers for the platform, what kind of features does the iPad have and is it "innovative" in any way?

It runs the exact same operating system as iPhone. The only difference is just creating a native version that can make use of the entire screen resolution. iPad can run existing iPhone apps but it just pixel doubles them to fill up the screen.

Also, with the bigger screen it will have advantages such as being able to see the other tabbed options alongside the main calculator view such as the catalog. iPad boasts a 1Ghz processor so SpaceTime will run much faster too.

I've had SpaceTime for the iPhone for over a year, and I like the program ... BUT ... am I right in assuming that I need to buy a new version for the iPad? I hope I'm wrong, because I'm rather unlikely to spend an additional $20 for this program.

Yes, it's a separate purchase. We would offer upgrades at a discount for iPhone users but Apple doesn't allow any way to do this.

Why don't you make an inApp-Buy option in the iphone app?

Such that if i have the iphone version, i can download it in the appstore and then with an in app purchase upgrade it to the iPad version.

That's not possible because SpaceTime for iPhone and iPad are separately apps, read this:

Thanks!

To be honest, we would be more than happy to offer cross-platform discounts between iPhone and iPad users but Apple doesn't have any mechanism for this.

Additionally, it's not possible to use the in-app purchase method as a way to buy apps on the app store. In-app purchasing can only be used to download additional content but not for instance to download an "iPhone" or "iPad" version into the app itself.

What about administering redemption codes through your website?
